This quality board is made from beech and birch wood and has a simple modern look. The board measures 40cm (16 ") square and each square measures 4cm (1.65"); when folded, the board is held securely shut with 2 brass clasps
The handcrafted chessmen have felt bottoms, are weighted, and are made from hornbeam and sycamore wood; the king measures 8.5 centimeters (3.34") ; the queen measures 7.1 centimeters (2.8"); the pawn measures 3.7 centimeters (1.45")
The pieces fit securely into their own compartment inside the board when it is folded up. All wood for this set is plantation grown and the set is made in Poland. The annoated board and elegant pieces make this a good choice for beginners.
